Interpower International - Gas and Diesel-Powered Generating Sets and Rotary UPS for the Energy Industry

Interpower International is an original equipment manufacturer of diesel and gas-powered generating sets and rotary UPS. With over 25 years' experience, we have a reputation for high-specification equipment, designed and built to meet customers' exacting specifications.

Interpower is an ISO:9000 company, an approved supplier to the oil and gas industry, the first approved supplier to the Hong Kong Housing Authority, and an approved supplier to a number of militaries around the world.

Interpower has supplied thousands of generating sets for hundreds of different applications, including hospitals, airports, palaces, government buildings, banks, militaries, rental fleets, the telecommunications sector, the oil and gas industry, factories, data centres, and marine generators.

Our standby sets provide backup power to some of the largest hospitals in numerous cities around the world. All of our sets are thoroughly tested, as in these applications reliability is a must. Interpower works closely with project consultants to find the best solutions to customers' requirements.

Custom designed and built generating sets

Interpower prides itself on the ability to meet some of the tightest specifications in the world, from generators providing backup power to the channel tunnel boring machines, to emissions cleaners for rental equipment in the centre of London.

Our custom designed and built control systems allow easy expansion and management of multiple set systems. From basic mains failure units, through to automatic synchronising and starting and stopping on load demand, Interpower control systems can reduce the running costs of the sets when the load requirement is not at full capacity.

Over the last decade, Interpower has manufactured several hundred sets that have gone into service in the telecom sector. Several countries' networks, including Yemen, Dubai, Saudi Arabia, Venezuela, Ethiopia and China, rely on Interpower equipment to keep them running smoothly.

Reliable generator sets suitable for rental fleets

For remote installations, Interpower has designed extended run systems, increasing the number of hours between servicing and maintenance. The control systems also allow remote administration of the units, where an engineer is able to dial into the installation, interrogate the control unit, and see how many hours have been run, how long it is until the next service is due, and ensure the system is running fault free.

On the design of its rental equipment Interpower works closely with customers who have rental fleets, to manufacture a range of standard products to meet the rigours of this market. The canopies and containers are designed to aid the customer with the maintenance of their plant, as well as to provide protection from the elements and sound attenuation.

Our containerised units offer a high power output for a small site footprint, with up to 2,000kVA of attenuated power being available from a 20ft standard ISO container.
Multiple sets can quickly and easily be installed on-site to create rapid solutions to a customer's power requirements.

In a large number of industries downtime costs money, and if a process has to stop or is interrupted it can be several hours until production can be resumed. From factories to banks, a constant power supply is essential.

NATO Submarine Rescue System

Interpower recently supplied the generator for the NATO submarine rescue system. The 600kVA containerised set was built to Lloyds marine class approval. Designed to be deck mounted it has to withstand several meter wave heights breaking over it. Included in the container was a gas fire suppression system, internal exhaust system, radiator cooling system, control panel, and fuel tank.

The waterproof distribution panel was recessed into the side of the container, and uses IP65 rated socket for the power cable connections. All of this has to transportable by aircraft at a moments notice, and could not weight more than 13.5 tonne.

Rotary UPS systems utilising flywheel technology

Interpower has developed a more reliable and cost-effective UPS system. Utilising proven flywheel technology we are able to design and build UPS systems that are easy to operate and maintain.

Our simple flywheel system does not need power electronics, or ventilated/air conditioned rooms for batteries. It can be maintained by an engineer with nothing more than basic generator knowledge.

Simplifying the design of the UPS, we have increased the efficiency of the installation, reduced the running cost, and created a solution that can be easily integrated into existing systems.
