Toshiba secures equipment supply contract for US thermal plant

EBR Staff Writer Published 06 February 2012

Japan-based Toshiba Corporation has secured a contract from Abengoa subsidiary Abener Energía to supply equipment for a thermal power plant in Mexico, US.

Under the terms of the agreement, Toshiba will supply a high-efficiency 242MW steam turbine and generator for the 264 CC Centro natural-gas fired power plant.

Mexico's state-owned electricity utility Comisión Federal de Electricidad (CFE) is developing a 640MW combined-cycle power plant and has awarded Abener a full turnkey contract for the project.

The supply of equipment is scheduled for May 2013, and plant is expected to begin operation later in the same year.
