EBR Staff Writer Published 01 November 2011

Foster Wheeler has won a contract from Sasol New Energy to provide engineering, procurement and construction management (EPCm) services for the outside battery limit portion of a new gas-fired power plant at Sasolburg in South Africa.

The company will provide the earthworks for the entire outside battery limit site, utility connections, 15/88kV step-up transformers and an 88kV substation with associated electrical infrastructure and network system.

The workscope of Foster Wheeler is scheduled for completion during the third quarter of 2012.

According to Sasol, this project is expected to raise its electricity self-sufficiency to 840MWe or 60% of its overall power draw.

Foster Wheeler is a global engineering and construction contractor and power equipment supplier.
