Calpine Corporation (Calpine), a power producer in North America, had recommenced full production at its 530 megawatt (MW) Sutter natural gas-fired power station on June 1, 2009. One MW of power supply from the natural gas-fired power station can serve approximately 700 homes in Northern California.

The Sutter natural gas-fired power plant, which became operational in 2001, is situated near Yuba City in Sutter County, approximately 40 miles (65 KM) north of Sacramento.

The Sutter natural gas-fired power facility is a combined-cycle natural gas-fired plant that comprises two combustion turbines with a capacity of 175 MW each and one 180 MW steam turbine.

Calpine, operating in Houston, Texas and San Jose, California, is capable of delivering around 24,000 MW of clean, economical, reliable and fuel-efficient electricity to customers and communities in 16 states across the US and Canada. The company owns, leases and operates low-carbon, natural gas-fired and renewable geothermal power stations.
